dance & detox
18 - 21 April 25
AREAS OF STUDY
This program is exceptional because I have combined two of my most cherished courses: The Art of Trance and Move & Detox. This is the second time I will combine my understanding and knowledge of Sufi dance, trance-induced states and plant-based food because I have experienced the significance of the results. I look forward to sharing my wisdom, knowledge and practice with you.
Dance and food open a joyful and gentle way to detox and nourish our bodies and soul. The practice I have put together respects ancient knowledge but is free from religious dogma. The things we do are not complicated but efficient. The dance movements are easy to follow, the food is rich and abundant - and you can eat as much as you like.
The dance, the breath, the group, the food, the nature, the rituals all have a profoundly transforming and liberating effect, and most importantly, all we do opens the heart. Then we can let go, accept and forgive, be in a flow state, and be creative.
We will detox and renew body, mind and soul with dance and food while focusing on the intelligence of the heart.
The Egyptian Sufi dance tradition embraces the mystical path of the soul. Sufis are called masters of trance because, in their dance, they practice particular movements and breathing techniques that enable us to experience higher states of consciousness. The higher the state of consciousness, the more our heart centre opens, and our system expands.
In Egypt, millions dance into a trance to free themselves from anything that separates them from inner peace and happiness. The movements they practice are ancient and powerful. They consist of circular, multi-dimensional loops that mainly affect the heart. Sufi dance ceremonies are inclusive, and anybody can participate.
For the Sufis, as for the ancient Egyptians, the heart was the sun, the centre, the light of each person, and the seat of eternal knowledge. Sufi dance movements embody universality, holism, and timelessness. In essence, they mirror the fundamental principles governing cosmic movements. At their core lies an organizational principle that orbits around the heart centre, symbolizing the unifying essence.
Breath is the secret. Breath is the movement and the stillness, the beginning and the end and all in between.
Our nutrition is plant-based, alkaline, and rich in vitamins, minerals, precious oils, and bitter substances. I will cook for the group and treat you with delicious soups, stews, vegetables, salads and snacks. We will drink herbal teas and take particular nutritional supplements. You will get a protocol for the morning and a protocol for the evening - everything will be clear, easy and joyful.
The food has a detox effect, and our Sufi dance and movement practice will support this. We will also engage in floor work and movements that specifically stimulate the body's detoxification processes. We will target areas like the intestines, lymphatic, fascia, and nervous systems.
As a choreographer, dancer, and expert in dance and ritual in Egypt, Claudia's work revolves around uncovering and analyzing movement in dance rituals. She liberates these practices from constrictive traditions, transforming them into modern choreographies and improvisations.
She learned the oral tradition from artists and artist families in Egypt. She contributes to broadening the narrow, Western-centric perspective of contemporary dance that still exists today. Her pieces convey wholeness and strive to transcend boundaries between tradition and modernity, spirituality and science, East and West.
Claudia has amassed a wealth of knowledge in the discipline of trance movements from masters in Egypt. She is a generous teacher who takes her students to unexpected energy levels. In addition, Claudia has been writing a book over the past years and has undertaken in-depth research in the field.
